When nipple position is below the inframammary fold, there are 3 approaches to correct the situation depends on the breast volume.

If breast volume is adequate, then the only procedure required is Mastopexy,also known as breast lift, which mean repositioning the nipple in a higher location. This is performed by removing excess skin around the areola and the nipple.

If breast volume is larger than normal, then the appropriate procedure is breast reduction, which means removal of excess breast tissue and excess skin to reposition the nipple.

If breast volume is small, for optimal result, there is a need for augmentation using implants to improve the breast size, and at the same time to perform the the breast lift to reposition the nipple.

It is important to have mammography prior to surgery.
